"Participating in the TMUN was both challenging and very productive.

Having never before practiced the special Roles of Procedures of NMUN outside the weekly Law NMUN sessions, the focus on resolution writing rather prolonged discussions in plenary and took some getting used to. Yet taking the role of Pakistan in the General assembly was an intriguing change of perspective. As the topic was “Addressing Threats to International Peace and Security from Non-State Actors”, finding a solution put my country into a delicate situation.

It illustrated vividly to me, how difficult international cooperation can be, when one nation my both be the threat and the threatened. Additionally, this was the first time representing a state, where my personal and my assigned interests in solving a problem differed significantly. I sometimes feared that the other delegates might confuse the position I was representing with my own values. However, the other delegates showed so much professionalism and were presented with similar challenges themselves, that we ended up having a productive day, while still getting along in the breaks.

The Tübingen participants had kindly organized a delicious potluck with salads, cheese, fruits, cake and much else. This kept us going through the day, as we had gotten up around 5:00 o’clock for the commute to Tübingen. Sadly, the already late trains from the DB kept us from staying for the voting procedure and social, but we were able to exchange contacts prior to our departure anyway.

In summary, I feel significantly more prepared for the NMUN conference and look forward to meeting the other delegates in New York."
